Dr. Etta Zuber Falconer was instrumental in developing one of the most productive science programs in a liberal arts college in the United States and increasing the number of women and minorities entering scientific careers. Wherever she worked during her career as an educator, Falconer initiated programs and processes aimed at raising the number of underrepresnted populations in the study of mathematics and science. A Summer Science Program for pre-freshmen, the college's annual Science Day, and the NASA Women in Science and Engineering Program are among her many efforts that improved the success rate of science majors.
