• AAAS Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award, 2004.

  Won 2003-2004 SFR Award for his longstanding devotion to human rights issues, particularly his role in making known the abuses of psychiatry in the Soviet Union and spearheading an international effort to condemn such practices.
