AAAS Resolution:
Multi-Disciplinary Coverage in Science Magazine

Whereas the Board recognizes the vital role Science Magazine plays in the well-being of the AAAS; and

Whereas the recent steps at redesign, increased multidisciplinary coverage in the news section, the addition of editors in the physical sciences, and the taking of advertising in-house have done much to improve the magazine;

Whereas the Board is concerned that recent survey results indicate a future trend toward a society that is almost totally biological sciences in nature;

Therefore be it resolved that the Board challenges the Editor of Science Magazine with an increased allocation of up to one hundred and fifty pages for the remainder of 1992 to be used for publication of non-biological subjects in the "reports section" of Science Magazine.

[Approved by the AAAS Board of Directors, June 13, 1992.]
