AAAS Resolution: Reaffirmation of Desirability of the Metric System for the United States.
Whereas, the metric system of weights and measures has not yet been brought into general use in the United States, and
Whereas, the American Association for the Advancement of Science has already adopted and published resolutions favoring the adoption of the metric system of weights and measures in the United States; therefore, be it
Resolved, that the American Association for the Advancement of Science reaffirms its belief in the desirability of the adoption of the metric system of weights and measures for the United States, and recommends that the units of that system be used by scientific men in all their publications, either exclusively or else with the customary non-metric units in parentheses. [Adopted by the AAAS Council, December 29, 1922.]
