Catherine Borras Files
Years covered: 1937-1986
Linear feet: 25

Catherine Borras served as Assistant to the Executive Officer of AAAS from 1953 until her retirement in 1985. Her long career spanned the tenures of three Executive Officers: Dael Wolfle (1954-1970), William Bevan (1970-1974), and William Carey (1975-1987). These records cover selected activities of the association during and after World War II. They document the association's response to attacks on scientists during the McCarthy era, the scientific community's concerns with national civil defense, the Vietnam war, and environmental degradation. Records include correspondence, memos, minutes from some Board and Council meetings, reports, and resolutions.
